Sarita V Pinup Photography
Sarita V Pin-up was my creative outlet to balance out some of the very tedious and dry work I do on a daily basis. I started photographing others in 2018, but moved to rural Eastern Washington, so I’m no longer currently taking clients.
For the photos of myself, I take them with a remote trigger and do the entire process alone (sometimes my husband helps). This includes costuming, hair, background sets, photography, and post image processing. I generally like to shoot with bright lights (high-key photography), few shadows, and a flat, single color background. It’s similar to many pin-ups from the past, especially since many were paintings. Using high-key photography and bright color contrast adds a cartoon and superhero quality to the photo that I love! I also like to shoot with lower light with a shout-out to the film noir style of the forties.
While women were the majority of clients, I also shot vintage and “GQ” style shoots for men, and age-appropriate children’s shoots (think sassy!).
The Gallery
I’ve rarely been in style and generally do what seems right for me. In the last ten years, I had become frustrated by what was in fashion with the not-so-flattering, overly baggy clothes that never look right on a petite curvy body. Was it my body or was it the clothes?
I began thrift store shopping regularly and wearing what makes me feel strong, feminine and sexy, which ultimately led to styles from the forties and fifties. After moving and with 2020 being a bad year for having people in the home, I primarily started my YouTube channel. Below is an assortment of some of my favorite photos from that time.
